BabyCoach

BabyCoach is a nurse-led support program for families of newborns discharged from Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), special care nurseries (SCN), or who will have additional healthcare needs when going home.

This is a limited-enrollment pilot program available to work across SC with families of newborns with potential support needs.

Neonatal & pediatric healthcare providers can contact us to determine a family’s fit for the program.

The following services are offered to families participating in the program:

Connect with your Nursing BabyCoach prior to newborn discharge
In-home or virtual visit within 2 weeks of discharge
Follow up in-home or virtual visits as your baby grows
Online resources including a support network with other families, webinars, & updates on baby care

Visits will include:

Support with general and specific questions about baby care & special health needs
Clarifying discharge directions
Assessing baby’s developmental progress
Identifying priority resources and referrals to support baby & family needs
Connecting to support with other families with babies with special healthcare needs

The University of South Carolina, College of Nursing is a collaborating partner with the BabyCoach program. The development of these programs were created in conjunction with the UofSC College of Nursing pediatric faculty, who were provided dedicated time to conduct research, promote program development, and cultivate community partnerships for commencement of this child health care program.
