The Champions for Young Children Symposium aims to provide a rich professional development experience around a specific theme for participants and to offer an opportunity for professionals from multiple facets of early childhood education and parents to access information and network (e.g., mental health, Head Start, pre-K (public and private), early intervention, home visitation, child care, early childhood education, early childhood special education).

Goals for the 2023 Symposium:

  • To inspire and empower participants to understand what skills children develop during their first five years that promote future literacy and to recognize their role related to building pre-literacy skills.
  • To provide symposium participants with evidence-based strategies that promote language, communication, and social emotional development that set the stage for literacy.
  • To provide a platform for practitioners from multiple early childhood sectors to network.

CEUs and Training Credit:

  • CEUs: Participants can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for participation in featured speaker sessions and breakout sessions. Participants should provide necessary information when registering for the conference to earn CEUs.
  • Child Care: This event is a certified conference through SC Endeavors for child care training credit. Participants should provide necessary information when registering for the conference to earn child care training credit .
  • Early Intervention: The Team for Early Childhood Solutions has approved this training for SC Early Intervention Credential renewal.
  • Head Start/Early Head Start: The Symposium is approved as a Head Start pre-service event.
  • Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement®: South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association has approved this training for Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement® training or renewal requirements.
